About the show: In 1996, Aaron Spelling decided to try a different kind of nighttime soap opera: this one based on the world of role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade. This rich backdrop featured a mafia-like grouping of vampire clans, each with their own skills and specialties. Led by the human-favoring Prince of the city, Julian Luna, the vampires of San Francisco lived, loved, fought and died, all the time desperate to preserve the 'masquerade' of their humanity. Sadly, the show debuted before The Sopranos and
Buffy: The Vampire Slayer made both the mob and vampires cool to TV viewing audiences
and the show was cancelled after only a handful of episodes aired.
