About the show: This syndicated science fiction series premiered in October 2000. It was created by Gene Roddenberry and developed by Robert Hewitt Wolfe.
Trapped for 300 years in the event horizon of a black hole, Captain Dylan Hunt and his sentient
starship, Andromeda, are rescued by the crew of the salvage ship, Eureka Maru. Hunt finds that
the formerly peaceful Commonwealth of planets has been shattered by the treacherous actions of the
genetically-modified humans, called Nietzscheans. Hunt recruits the crew of the Maru, including
its plucky captain, Beka Valentine, her super-genius engineer, Seamus Harper, her pacifistic
science officer, Rev Bem, who just happens to be a member of the savage race called the Magog, and a
mysterious purple girl known simply as Trance Gemini. Hunt is also joined by the lone mercenary
Nietzschean, Tyr Anasazi, who has his own agenda for Hunt's ship and for the galaxy. Together,
this crew travels the galaxy trying to reunite the planets into a new Commonwealth against their
common enemies: the Magog, the Kalderans and the Spirit of the Abyss.
