About the movie:
A live action
re-telling of the stories by J.M. Barrie about Peter Pan, the boy who wouldn't grow up, and the
girl Wendy, caught between childhood and adolescence, who must choose whether to stay with Peter
and be a child forever, or return to her home and family and a future of being a wife and mother
to her own children.
Personal:
This extraordinary film was one of the overlooked gems of 2003. In fact,
the WriterGroupie believes this is the greatest non-Disney family film released in several decades.
Working both as a coming of age story for Wendy as well as the story of the little boy who would
never grow up, the film retains all the charm of the source material while being completely
satisfying to a contemporary audience. From script to cast to the sumptuous production design,
this movie works perfectly on every level. Simply exquisite.
