ClayAikenGroupie Recommends:
The Phantom of the Opera

While it would be dreadful for this ClayAikenGroupie to see his beautiful face covered, there is no role more suited to Clay Aiken's talent, and equally no person more capable of succeeding Michael Crawford in the eponymous stage role of The Phantom of the Opera. Only Clay's magnificent soaring vocals and dramatic delivery could match the level first set by the amazing Michael Crawford.

Since the Phantom's face is covered for the entire show by mask and makeup, Michael Crawford illustrated how the role and emotions of the character could be conveyed not only through the music, but through body language and especially through the expression of his hands. Having seen Clay in concert use his body and hands to convey feelings and connect to the audience, I can easily imagine him in the role of the tortured but empathetic Phantom.

So my first ClayAikenGroupie Recommendation is the soundtrack to The Phantom of the Opera - brilliant unto itself for Michael Crawford's heartwrenching singing performance, but also wonderful to imagine Clay singing the same songs.
