Publication Date: 1962-1989 About the books: Physics. Biology. Alternate timelines. Politics. Religion. And pre-teen angst. Madeleine L'Engle's Time Series has all of this and more. Focusing on the fantastic adventures of the extraordinary Murry clan, this classic children's fantasy/sci-fi series has something to appeal to boys and girls alike. A Wrinkle in Time introduces teen misfit Meg Murry, her brilliant scientist parents, athletic twin brothers Sandy and Dennys, her shy but genius-level younger brother Charles Wallace, and her school friend Calvin O'Keefe. As they travel to alien worlds to battle the forces of darkness, they learn there is no more powerful weapon than love. In A Wind in the Door, the darkness comes to Earth and the Murrys with the help of stalwart Calvin O'Keefe, must drive it off once again. A Swiftly Tilting Planet takes place several years later as a now married Meg returns home when her family and younger brother Charles Wallace are once again in need of her help. But this time it's history AND the future that could be changed if they lose. Many Waters is an earlier adventure featuring the twins, Sandy and Dennys, traveling back in time to the days of the biblical flood. Even if they can survive, will they ever return home? An Acceptable Time showcases the inherited time-travelling talents of Meg's daughter
Polly.
And while she has always related to slightly-different Meg Murry, Calvin O'Keefe remains one of her all time favorite literary characters - a wonderful example of how a boy without any super powers can still be a hero. The WriterGroupie greatly enjoyed the recent Disney TV movie adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time
and wishes A Wind in the Door and A Swiftly Tilting Planet could someday be
produced as well.
