Personal:

The WriterGroupie has had the opportunity to speak to James on three different occasions. First, she attending a signing of the Spike & Dru comic book at a local horror bookstore. The WriterGroupie was remarkably calm at this event, perhaps to contrast from the over-excited teenage girls who filled the store, perhaps because she was there with a journalist friend who had gone to interview James. She found James to be very pleasant and kind to his fans, with a welcoming smile for everyone. The second time she spoke with James, was to ask him a question at a convention appearance. This was after his first appearance on Angel. The ActorGroupie asked, "Will you be appearing again anytime soon on Angel which would be the reason to make me watch the show again?" He was appreciative of the implied compliment, and thanked me for asking, saying he'd like to appear on the show again. (This turned out a bit prescient as he became a regular character on Angel after Buffy ended its seven year run. The third time the WriterGroupie spoke with James was at a "Behind the Scenes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer" panel. This time, she completely lost all ability to speak to the man beyond a barely whispered request to sign an autograph. He simply melted the WriterGroupie into incoherence by his incredible charm, talent and good looks.
